About Squire & Company

Solid advice, candid approach

Les Squire built Squire and Company into one of the largest sole practitioner CPA firms in Abbotsford, after several years at the Langley branch of a large international firm. Today he works as a general practitioner, offering corporate and personal tax advice, internal accounting support and year-end financials to clients in many industries.

Les has an open, forthright communication style. He will not beat around the bush, yet always takes the time to break down complex tax and accounting matters so they are understandable and relatable. He also holds the Canada Revenue Agency accountable to the standards the public should expect, and fights for fair treatment for his clients.

Harvey Knotts, CPA, CA, has been part of the senior management team since 2015. He holds the ACCA from the United Kingdom and the CPA, CA designation in Canada, and spends his days identifying planning and tax saving opportunities and reviewing file work. Behind both of them is the support staff who keep every project on track.

How we work

Big firm knowledge, small firm experience

Two colleagues going over figures together
  1. 01

    Clarity, not jargon

We take the numbers and make them approachable, breaking things down so you can see what is going on and choose the recommendation that suits you best.

  2. 02

    The whole picture

We look beyond tax to your whole financial situation to find unclaimed deductions and planning opportunities that could lower your tax burden.

  3. 03

    Business and personal, together

When you own a business, your business and personal income are connected. We integrate your T1 with your corporation to minimize your overall tax bill.

  4. 04

The right number, the right way

A culture of continued education, honesty and no blame, where getting the right number the right way is paramount and the CPA profession's standards are kept.

Life is too short to spend your time worrying about the numbers.

Tax and accounting, simple to complex

Sorting receipts and paperwork for a personal tax return

Personal tax returns

Tax shouldn't be intimidating. Knowing about you lets us find the allowable credits that apply to you and tailor your return to make the most of your deductions.

  • Your life stage: senior, student, full-time worker or family
  • Big changes: a move, a sale of property, retirement, a baby
  • Rental properties, a family cottage, foreign investments, RRSPs
  • Often-missed credits: disability, home office, child-related

Year-end financials

Accounting is about more than a good set of financial statements. It is about useful information that helps you make solid, informed business decisions.

  • A simple cash flow or a complete set of projections
  • Ratio analysis and trending
